Assam: 2 arrested with 36.62 grams of heroin in Goalpara
Guwahati, 23rd April: In a significant operation conducted by Goalpara Police in Assam, authorities seized 36.62 grams of suspected heroin from two individuals during the midnight hours.
The seizure is part of a broader anti-drug drive initiated by Goalpara Police, with legal action already initiated against the offenders.
This recent success adds to a series of effective actions by law enforcement agencies across Assam. Just days ago, on April 21, the Assam Police intercepted three soap boxes containing suspected heroin in Nagaon. Acting swiftly on intelligence inputs, a team from the Kathiatoli Outpost, led by DSP(P) Sandipon Garg and SI Biku Barman, discovered 34 grams of heroin concealed within the soap boxes. The operation resulted in the apprehension of three suspects, with legal procedures currently underway.
In another significant operation, the Karimganj Police conducted a successful raid leading to the seizure of prohibited drugs valued at approximately Rs 20 crore. Led by Karimganj Superintendent of Police Parth Pratim Das, the operation targeted a clandestine stash of one lakh yaba tablets concealed within a hidden compartment of a KIA SELTOS vehicle bearing registration number AS/01/FK/2939.
Amidst the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, police departments remain vigilant, committed to realizing a drug-free Assam.
