Assam: 2 cattle smugglers shot dead in Police encounter
Kokrajhar: Two international cattle smugglers were killed and four police officers were injured in yet another police shooting.
The two smugglers were identified as Akbar Banjara and Salman Banjara. Both of them were from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
Both smugglers were apprehended in Meerut under Case No 23/2022 u/s 279/353/307/289/379/411 IPC & r/w sec-11 (a)(d)(e)(h) of PCA Act. R/W section 17/18/39/40 of UA(P) Act.
According to sources, both Akbar and Salman Banjara traded hawala transactions with a global cattle smuggling ring. This was discovered during a police investigation.
During the research, it was also discovered that the ISI is involved in the cattle smuggling operation.
It has also been discovered that militants in Assam and Meghalaya receive funds through the hawala system.
During the investigation, it was discovered that money obtained through hawala transactions is being used for anti-India activities.
It may be mention that during the investigation one AK 47 rifle, two magazines, and 35 live bullets were also seized by police.
Gold and hundis are also used in hawala transactions. Sankosh River is being used to smuggle cattle. When police were transporting both smugglers to the Jamduar area for additional investigation, terrorists opened fire on them.
Following the terrorists’ opening fire, police took up position and opened fire, injuring both smugglers in the process.
Later, both Akbar and Salman were taken to the hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
