Assam: 2 Held for Demanding Money for CT Scan at Lakhimpur Medical College
Guwahati: Even though the government is extremely vigilant about not accepting bribes, the practises still persist. Two Lakhimpur Medical College staff members have been detained in yet another incident after they are accused of accepting bribes from two BPL patients.
According to reports, Dharjya Buragohain and Tultul Das, two technicians, were detained for asking two patients for a bribe in exchange for performing a CT scan.
Reportedly, the patients Hemlata Saikia and Urmila Das said that both technicians sought Rs. 1600 from them on Sunday.
Notably, they gave Urmila Das her money back after she threatened to leak the information to the public.
The CT scan department at Lakhimpur Medical College is instead handled by a commercial company called SPONDAN, and both staff have been suspended since the scandal broke.
