Assam: 2 Mancachar-based drug peddlers arrested by Special Task Force in Guwahati

Guwahati, 2nd March: In a proactive operation, the Special Task Force (STF) in Assam has apprehended two drug peddlers based in Mancachar, who were allegedly transporting narcotics from Mancachar to Lalmati in Guwahati and Shillong.

Initially targeted for interception in the Palasbari area, the culprits managed to evade the police and fled towards Guwahati. However, their escape was short-lived.

The STF team successfully apprehended the suspects at the Shivam Service Station in Beharbari on the morning of March 2, 2024.

Following the arrest, authorities seized 20 soap boxes containing heroin, with a total weight of 280 grams, from the suspects.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Md Jiaul Hassan from Bakurchar and Md Arshad Ali from Kakripara, Mankachar.

Legal proceedings have been swiftly initiated against them, marking a significant step in curbing drug trafficking activities in the region.
