Assam: 20 buffaloes rescued in Cachar
Guwahati: At least 20 buffaloes were seized by the Security forces along with Cachar police in Cachar district of Assam on Friday.
The incident took place in the Katigara town in Silchar city of the district.
According to reports, buffaloes were allegedly being smuggled to Bangladesh through the international Indo-Bangla border.
During random checking of vehicles, a truck was intercepted by the on-duty police personnel. On checking the vehicle, the police found that it was loaded with 20 domestic buffaloes and the driver of the truck were immediately apprehended.
Meanwhile, the police officials further seized the bovines along with the truck for investigation.
It may be mentioned that during the search operation by the police officials, the driver of the truck was failed to show any of valid documentation about the bovine. The police officials further informed the truck had no permit to transport livestock.
However, investigation into the matter is currently underway.
