Guwahati: With the drug menace continuing in the state, Assam Police in a big development seized a huge quantity of cannabis (ganja) and arrested three persons in the connection from Deoduar in Kamrup district on Friday.
The arrestees identified as Kankan Bodo, Rajani Rabha and Prabhat Rabha.
Following a tip off about the illegal drug smuggling, the narcotics department of Assam police launched a joint operation with the Changsari police and arrested the accused today.
According to reports, a Datsun redi-GO vehicle bearing registration numbers AS 01 DQ 2302 was intercepted at national highway 31 near Changsari.
On checking the vehicle, 25 kg of ganja has been recovered.
Reportedly, the trio was arrested on charges of smuggling the illicit substances.
It needs to be mentioned that a legal action has been initiated into the matter and further investigation is underway.
