Assam: 28 Cattle Heads Rescued By State Police from Jorabat; 3 Arrested

Guwahati, 2nd March: A truck carrying 28 live cattle was seized, and three individuals were detained on Saturday at the Jorabat Link road on the Assam-Meghalaya border.

Initial reports indicate that the vehicle, bearing registration number UP-21CN2107, was intercepted during a routine Naka check on Friday night.

Upon inspection, authorities discovered that the truck was transporting 28 illegal live cattle and one dead cattle. The driver and his assistants failed to provide the necessary legal documents and veterinary certificates for the cattle.

During interrogation, the driver and his two aides confessed to transporting cattle from Jorhat district to Meghalaya. Subsequently, the vehicle was seized, and the trio was apprehended and taken to the police station for further procedures.

The driver, identified as Moksidul Islam (25), and his aides, Muksarikul Islam (28) and Suhel Ahmed (20), were apprehended during the operation. Moksidul and Suhel hail from Nagaon, while Muksarikul is a resident of Morigaon.

Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
