Guwahati: Assam Police arrested three gamblers in the Sonitpur district of the state.
The arrestees were identified as Salam Uddin (29, Zalim Uddin (31), and Inamul Haque (32). All the three accused are the residents of Rupkuriha, Tezpur.
Following a tip-off, the police officials from Borghat Outpost and staff of Salonibari Outpost conducted a raid against illegal gambling Rupkuriya Salmara village under Salonibari outpost area and arrested the three accused.
The police officials further recovered seven packets of new playing cards and a cash amount of Rs 700 from their possession.
Moreover, the police informed that some of the gamblers fled away from the location under the cover of darkness.

Further investigation is underway into the matter.
