Guwahati: Three people were killed in a road accident in Dibrugarh district of Assam on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Jaipur Natun Ali Road of the district.
The deceased has been identified as Vikram Mahali, Lakhi Patar and Nirmal Das, all residents of Lahowal.
According to reports, the three of them were daily wage labourers and were waiting by the side of the road when a fast car ran them over.
In the incident, one died on the spot and two others were immediately taken to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) but succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Meanwhile, enraged neighbourhood residents beat the car’s driver before turning him over to the authorities.
It is learned that the driver was in an inebriated state when the accident occurred.
