Assam: 3 Officials Held On Bribery Charges In Separate Incidents

Guwahati: Three government employees were arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on Friday in Assam on suspicion of accepting bribes in three different incidents.

The official claimed that the officials had demanded payment in order to process the three complainants’ papers after they contacted the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption.

In the first case, a ‘lat mandal’ of Koliabar revenue circle of Nagaon, identified as Pranjal Bora was apprehended while accepting a bribe from the complainant for processing and issuing land sale permission, Additional DGP, vigilance, Surendra Kumar, said.

In the second incident, a senior assistant of the office of Registrar, Cooperative Society, identified as Bidyadhar Das, arrested in Khanapara of Guwahati when he was allegedly accepting money for processing a pension file.

Similarly, in another incident, Bajlul Basit Sarkar, a block primary education officer of Matia block in Goalpara district, was arrested while accepting a bribe to sign bank loan papers, according to officials.
