Assam: 3 Suspected Poachers Arrested in Nagaon, Weapons Recovered

Guwahati: Three suspected poachers were arrested by Assam Police in Nagaon district of Assam on Tuesday.

The arrestees identified as Pawan Das, Kedar Das and Lakhindar Mandal.

According to reports, they were arrested from Sagmuthi Tea Estate in Jakhalabandha area.

Axes, a machete, firearms, and live ammunition were recovered by police among their belongings.

The police searched after arresting the weapon supplier identified as Mohan Tanti, and using his confession as justification.

The detained suspects are allegedly involved in logging and animal poaching in the mountains.

The villagers reported the sound of gunfire to the police after hearing it.

The police launched a raid in the area after receiving the information.

Meanwhile, police have opened an investigation into the situation.
