Assam: 3 Youths Tied to Tree and Beaten Mercilessly by Mob for Allegedly Stealing Goats
Guwahati, 25th October: In a shocking incident of moral policing that occurred in Gaurisagar of Assam’s Sivasagar on October 25, three youths were tied to a tree, disrobed and was beaten by a group of individuals on suspicion of stealing goats.
The incident took place at Namtial under Gaurisagar police station and it has sent shockwaves through the community.
More than two hundred people gathered along the banks of the Wakchung-Naali road in Namtial, where Milan Jyoti Bhuyan from Kalugaon Gayen village, Paran Dutta from Shalguri, and Prashant Gogoi from Namti Mezenga were assaulted by a group of people.
They were subsequently tied to a tree and mercilessly beaten.
The motive behind this gruesome incident was suspected that the victims were involved in goat theft, which had been plaguing the area for several days.
As a result, the three youths suffered severe injuries and were in a critical condition.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Gaurisagar police rushed to the spot and rescued the three youths and immediately sent them to a nearby hospital.
This incident of three youths being tied to a tree and assaulted during broad daylight in Namtial, Gaurisagar, has deeply shaken the foundations of a civilized society, raising serious concerns about such acts of violence and moral policing.
