Assam: 306 Children of 33 district Bags Healthy Child Award
Guwahati: The Ministry of Women and Child Development announced on Monday that the Healthy Child Award has been given to as many as 306 youngsters across 33 districts of Assam.
The Assam chief minister and minister for women and child development presented the Healthy Child Award to ten kids on September 1 at the state level Poshan Maah’s opening ceremony.
Assam shared the objective of having “Malnutrition free Assam” in light of the initiative to create a healthy nation.
At the level of the Lok Sabha Constituency, up to 20 healthy children from Anganwadi Centers were to receive the “Healthy Child” Award.
To identify healthy children in the age ranges of 6 months to 3 years and 3-5 years, growth monitoring was conducted throughout the State. From March 21 to March 27, 2018, promotions were organised to raise awareness about the need of measuring children’s growth.
During POSHAN Pakhwada, twenty healthy children were identified from each Lok Sabha Constituency encompassing the ICDS initiative in the relevant area.
The primary goals of the healthy child award are to identify healthy children in the age ranges of 3-5 years and 6-3 years, to raise awareness of and carry out campaigns for measuring children’s growth, and to encourage parents to engage in healthy competition for the sake of their children’s health and wellbeing.
After weighing the kids, the healthy ones were found by placing them appropriately on the WHO growth chart.
