Assam: 32-Metre Vacuum Gas Oil Hydrotreating Reactor Arrives at Numaligarh Refinery
Guwahati, 20th September: A massive 32-metre-long Vacuum Gas Oil Hydrotreating Reactor has successfully completed its 3,000-kilometre journey from Gujarat to the Numaligarh Refinery in Assam, marking a significant achievement in enhancing India’s domestic energy production.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the logistics involved, stating, “Nation building at its finest. So proud of our team at Numaligarh Refinery for transporting this gargantuan reactor across rivers and mountains.”
This delivery is part of an expansion plan aimed at boosting the refinery’s processing capabilities. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri emphasized the operation’s importance in a prior post.
The reactor’s arrival follows previous logistical challenges, including the stranding of four cargo vessels in the Brahmaputra River for two months due to low water levels in the Dhansiri River. Authorities managed to excavate the riverbed to facilitate the transfer of equipment.
