Assam: 4 Minors, 1 Woman Rescued From Human Trafficking From Bokakhat

Guwahati: In a horrific incident, a women and at least four minors were recovered from human trafficking in Bokakhat district of Assam on Friday.

According to reports, the accused has been identified as Rangila Karmakar, who allegedly utilised financial payments to seduce the victims into believing they would get employment in various places across the nation and earn a respectable wage.

The accused was introduced to an Anganwadi worker, and it was said that during their talk, the accused disclosed that she is an agent in Rajasthan who assists numerous people in obtaining employment as maids across India, where they are paid a minimum of Rs. 8,000 per month.

Rangila added that this time, she would be taking four girls and one married woman to get them employment on that particular day.

Following the chat, the anganwadi worker had a suspicion and called a teacher in the neighbourhood where the victims were being carried away to ask him about the incident.

Moreover, when it was confirmed, they had successfully nabbed the woman with the help of the villagers.

The locals afterwards turned over the suspect to the Bokakhat Police but they claim he was released soon after the arrest.

Rangila is accused of using money to get girls out of the poor area and transport them to other cities where they would labour at someone else’s home.
