Assam: 4 students injured in road accident in Kaliabor

Guwahati: Four students have been injured after a tempo carrying the students and driver overturned on National Highway 37 in Nagaon district of Assam today.

The incident happened while the tempo was heading towards Jakhalabanda Higher Secondary School.

According to sources, the tempo hit a dog, causing the driver to lose control and resulting in the vehicle overturning on the highway.

The driver identified as Jayanta Rongpi, and the four students – Punam Ingtipi, Mili Kurpi, Binita Tokbipi (all from the ninth grade), and Rachinja Ingtipi (from the tenth grade) – were injured in the accident.

Local residents immediately came to their aid and assisted in taking them to Kaliabor Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment.

The injured individuals are currently receiving medical attention at the hospital.

The incident highlights the importance of road safety and the need for caution while driving, especially in areas with heavy pedestrian and animal traffic.
