Guwahati: A mini truck carrying 40 sacks of smuggled Burmese Areca nuts was seized by Assam Police from Cachar district of Assam on Sunday.
According to reports, ‘Kaji’ lemons were sprinkled over the areca nut bundles to disguise them after they were smuggled from Mizoram.
The vehicle was intercepted by Dholai Police while it was travelling to Cachar.
The areca nuts that were seized are suspected to be over lakhs.
Two suspects have been taken into custody in connection to the seizure.
