Assam: 57th Central Convention of ABSU Opens in Kokrajhar, Aims to Foster Unity and Development

Guwahati: The 57th Central Convention of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) kicked off today in a grand four-day event at Bodofa Fwthar in Dotma, Kokrajhar district. The convention serves as a critical platform for the Bodo community to engage in discussions on various socio-political, educational, and cultural issues that are central to their future.

Assam Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma officially inaugurated the main pandal, marking the beginning of what is expected to be a highly impactful gathering. Gossaigaon MLA Jiron Basumatary was tasked with inaugurating the main entrance gate, while BTC Executive Member Ranjit Basumatary opened an exhibition that showcases the community’s rich cultural heritage and its ongoing developmental journey.

The convention is set to feature a range of educational sessions, literary discussions, and cultural programs aimed at strengthening unity within the Bodo community and driving forward its collective progress. The event has already attracted thousands of attendees, including students, intellectuals, and community leaders, who are eager to take part in the deliberations.

A major highlight of the convention will be the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is scheduled to attend the Open Session on the concluding day as the Chief Guest. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, and several prominent ministers and MLAs are also expected to address the gathering, which is expected to draw an impressive crowd of nearly two lakh people.

On March 14, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will participate in an interactive session with students under the theme “Empowering Youth for a Vibrant Bodoland Region and a Viksit Bharat.” The session will focus on engaging young minds in discussions about educational policies and opportunities that align with the government’s vision for development in the Bodoland region.

As the ABSU convention continues, it remains a crucial space for shaping the future of the Bodo community. This year’s event promises to be instrumental in driving policy discussions and regional empowerment, offering a roadmap for progress and unity.
