Assam: 630kgs of Cannabis Seized in Udalguri
Guwahati: Assam Police seized about 630kgs of suspected Cannabis (ganja) and one suspected person have been arrested from Udalguri district on Friday.
The incident took place at Paharpur of the district.
The accused has been identified as Ansai Daimari who is a resident of Adarsha Bahadur village of Mazbat in Udalguri district.
According to reports, Daimari is said to be involved in an interstate ganja smuggling racket.
Reports further claimed that on Friday morning suspected ganja was being transported in four trucks near Paharpur hamlet under the Lalpool Outpost on the Assam-Arunachal border.
When the vehicles were intercepted, based on certain tips, a few people managed to flee, leaving the vehicles behind, but one individual was captured by the police.
Following his arrest, a case was filed and four automobiles were impounded on the spot.
Hyundai I20(AS12V0868), Hyundai I20(AS06Q0877), Tata Indigo (AS01AF8841), and Maruti Swift Dzire (AR01J2843) are among the impounded automobiles being investigated.
The seized items are thought to have been found in deep woodland areas along the Assam-Arunachal border.
It may be mentioned that Mazbat, on the other hand, is used as a ganja or cannabis transit route.
