Guwahati: A 65-year-old man, identified as Ramesh Das, was arrested by Baksa police on charges of raping a 9-year-old girl in Fulguri, Baksa.
The incident came to light after the victim’s family filed a complaint with the police, alleging that Das had sexually assaulted the minor girl on multiple occasions.
Following the complaint, the police swiftly acted and apprehended the accused. Das has been taken into custody under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and sent to judicial custody.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the region, with locals demanding stringent punishment for the accused.
The police have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted to ensure justice is served to the victim and her family.
