Assam: 70 Sacks Of Burmese Supari Seized In Lumding, 1 Held

Guwahati: In yet another massive haul, security forces seized a huge consignment of Burmese Supari in Hojai district of Assam on Wednesday.

A mini truck carrying 70 sacks of smuggled Burmese Areca nuts was seized from a truck that was en route Jamunamukh from Hailakandi. 

The police team seized illegal consignments of Burmese supari weighing 1,050 kg kilograms during the raid.

The market value of the supari is estimated to be worth around Rs 15 lakh. 

Meanwhile, the driver of the truck was arrested in connection to the seizure. 

The arrestee has been identified as Kalim Uddin.

It may be noted that the Assam Police have actively taken measures against drugs smuggling, supari smuggling and other illegal activities.

The Assam Police in different parts of the state has also seized huge amounts of drugs and also apprehended many drug peddlers in due course of time.
