Assam: AAP leaders face ‘ink attack’ in Nagaon

Guwahati: Two unidentified youths thru ink on Jungantar Bora, the secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Nagaon district committee on Saturday.

The incident occurred in front of the Nagaon district library, where AAP was celebrating its 10th annual foundation day.

The entire incident was caught on camera and the AAP leaders claimed that the person who threw the ink belonged to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to reports, two youths riding a scooter poured ink at Sabyasachi Bora, the central committee representative, and Bora.

Later, the two youths fled the area while yelling “BJP Zindabad.”

Notably, the ink-throwing incident involving AAP leaders has sparked heated debate in the Nagaon area.

However, an AAP leader has faced a similar situation before. Sanjay Singh, the leader of the AAP, endured the same humiliation in 2020 after a man in Uttar Pradesh Hathras threw ink on him.

Singh travelled to Hathras in order to pay tribute to the 19-year-old woman who passed away after reportedly being gang-raped by four upper-caste men.

This too was captured on camera, wherein, it was seen that the man throwing ink when Singh was about to address media persons from TV news channels.

Singh was transported to a safer location right away after the event, and the assailant was subdued and captured on the scene.

Ink was thrown on AAP MLA Somnath Bharti in UP in January of this year in another incident of this kind.

”A BJP goon was allowed throw ink under the protection of the police. I want Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to come forward and talk to me, not exhibit ‘Gund Raj’,” miffed over the incident, Bharti had said while speaking to reporters.
