Assam: AASAA President Pradeep Nag Passes Away After Prolonged Illness

Guwahati, Assam – The All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) has announced the passing of its President, Pradeep Nag, earlier today, April 8. Nag, who was 48 years old, breathed his last at Medanta The Medicity Hospital in Gurugram following a protracted battle with illness.

Nag had been undergoing medical treatment for several months, culminating in his airlift to the national capital on March 15 for specialized care. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, he succumbed to his ailment, leaving behind a significant void in the student and Adivasi communities of Assam.

Born in Bhegapara, located in Assam’s Udalguri district, Pradeep Nag had been a prominent figure in student activism since 2016. His leadership as the President of AASAA was instrumental in voicing the concerns and championing the rights of Adivasi students across the state. His dedication and contributions garnered him widespread respect within the community.

The news of his demise has been met with deep sorrow across the region. Condolence messages have poured in from various leaders, including Assam Cabinet Minister Ashok Singhal and Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro, both of whom lauded Nag’s unwavering commitment to the Adivasi cause.

Minister Ashok Singhal described the late AASAA President as a “passionate leader” who selflessly dedicated his life to the betterment of the Adivasi community, emphasizing that his absence would be deeply felt. BTR CEM Pramod Boro echoed these sentiments, stating that Nag’s leadership would be greatly missed, particularly in the ongoing efforts to uplift marginalized communities within Assam.

Pradeep Nag’s untimely death represents a significant loss for AASAA, as the organization mourns the passing of a dedicated and tireless advocate for Adivasi students’ rights. His vision for a more inclusive and just future for the Adivasi people in Assam is expected to continue to motivate future generations of leaders and activists.
