Assam: AASU Begins Hunger Strike Against CAA in Dibrugarh

Guwahati, 10th March: The Dibrugarh district committee of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) along with 30 other organizations have commenced a 12-hour hunger strike today, March 10, in Dibrugarh, protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Starting at 6 am and continuing until 6 pm, the hunger strike aims to press for the repeal of the contentious Act, reflecting the ongoing resistance against CAA across Assam.

In a related demonstration of opposition to CAA, the AASU conducted a mass bike rally on March 7, traversing various districts of the state. Hundreds of AASU members participated in the motorcycle rally, advocating for the annulment of the Act.

The motorcycle rally, which spanned Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, and several other districts, underscored the widespread opposition to CAA among Assam’s populace. AASU leaders and activists, including vice president Nabajyoti Roy, led the rally, reaffirming their commitment to the democratic movement against CAA.

In a statement to the media, Roy reiterated the AASU’s unwavering stance against CAA, emphasizing the continuation of their democratic protest until their demands are addressed.
