Assam: AASU Protests Against Oil India Ltd (OIL) in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia Districts

Guwahati, 20th March: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) today launched a total shutdown protest against Oil India Ltd (OIL) at Duliajan, impacting operations in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts.

AASU accuses Oil India Ltd (OIL) of neglecting their social responsibilities towards national and state development, prompting the protest action.

The protest has resulted in the disruption of production, mining, and transportation of oil in the region. The Industrial gate, new Industrial area, and the general area of OIL are currently inaccessible due to the protest.

Additionally, the transport depot of OIL has been sealed, effectively halting the movement of OIL vehicles and preventing employees from entering for operation.

A public meeting has been organized by AASU at Duliajan today to address the grievances and concerns regarding OIL’s alleged neglect of social responsibilities.

The protest action by AASU highlights the ongoing tensions and demands for accountability in the relationship between Oil India Ltd and the local communities.
