Assam: AASU Stages Protest Rally in Kokrajhar Against Illegal Drug Trade
Guwahati: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) organized a large-scale protest rally in Kokrajhar town, demanding strict action against the illegal trade and circulation of the deadly drug Borbih.
The demonstration, led by AASU Central Vice President Nabajyoti Roy and District President Jius Choudhury, aimed to raise awareness about the rising drug menace and its impact on society.
The rally began from the AASU district office premises and proceeded through key areas of the town before concluding at the District Commissioner’s office. Hundreds of AASU members and concerned citizens participated, expressing strong opposition to drug-related activities and calling for immediate intervention by law enforcement agencies.
During the demonstration, protestors voiced concerns about the increasing prevalence of drug abuse, particularly among the youth. AASU leaders stressed the urgent need for robust enforcement measures to combat drug trafficking and protect the future generation from falling victim to substance abuse.
AASU, known for its active stance on social and youth-related issues, reaffirmed its commitment to fighting against drug abuse in Assam. The protest served as a significant show of public resistance, urging authorities to intensify their crackdown on those involved in the illegal drug trade and safeguard the community.
