Assam: AASU temporarily calls off protest against OIL in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts
Guwahati, 21st March: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) units in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia Districts have temporarily halted their protest against Oil India Ltd (OIL) at Duliajan, which began on Wednesday morning. The decision came after Oil India Limited, Duliajan, appealed to the organizations to remove the blockade and engage in dialogue to address concerns earlier in the day.
AASU in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts had initiated a total shutdown protest against Oil India Ltd (OIL) at Duliajan on March 20, accusing OIL of neglecting their social responsibilities towards national and state development.
The protest had disrupted the production, mining, and transportation of oil, making the Industrial gate, new Industrial area, and the general area of OIL inaccessible. Additionally, the transport depot of OIL was sealed, halting the movement of OIL vehicles and preventing employee access for operation. A public meeting was also scheduled by AASU at Duliajan on March 20.
