Assam: Accused in Temple Vandalism Injured in Police Firing During Escape Attempt

Guwahati, 19th November: In a dramatic turn of events, Anwar Ali, the accused arrested on November 18 for allegedly vandalizing and setting fire to a 200-year-old temple in Ratabari, Karimganj, was injured in police firing today. Ali reportedly attempted to flee from police custody in Ratabari after being arrested in Tripura the previous night.

During a search operation at Ali’s residence, the Ratabari Police recovered a hand-made gun, rounds of bullets, and a sword. As the police were returning from the operation, Ali tried to escape, prompting the police to open fire, injuring him in the leg. Ali is currently receiving treatment at Ramakrishnanagar Hospital for his injuries.
