Assam: Active UTLA (SK Thadou) Militant Apprehended in Cachar
Guwahati, 26th November: An active cadre of Manipur’s militant outfit United Tribal Liberation Army (SK Thadou) has been apprehended by security forces at Jirighat in Cachar.
The militant cadre was apprehended in a joint operation by The Assam Rifles and The Jirighat police of Cachar.
The arrested militant cadre has been identified as Henlenmang Lhouvum. Hailing from Senapati district in Manipur, Lhouvum was apprehended during a raid on Jirighat Laxminagar Khasia Punji, situated on the Assam-Manipur border, based on intelligence inputs.
The arrest unfolded as the combined forces overpowered the militant and recovered a .32 pistol along with five live cartridges.
Authorities informed that the arrested youth was actively associated with the insurgent outfit United Tribal Liberation Army (S.K. Thadou) in Manipur.
Sources reveal that Lhouvum had ventured into Jirighat Lakhinagar Khasia Punji on the border with the intention of selling pistols.
A police investigation into the incident is underway.
