Dibrugarh, September 17, 2024: Actor Sumi Borah and her husband, Tarkik Borah, are set to appear in court today following the expiration of their initial 5-day police remand. The couple, arrested in connection with a major stock market trading scam, has been under intensive interrogation since their capture by Dibrugarh police.
Authorities have reportedly uncovered significant details during questioning, shedding light on numerous instances of online trading fraud. Investigators are expected to request an extension of the couple’s custody, citing the need to explore further aspects of the case. Tarkik’s brother, Amlan Borah, also linked to the scam, will be presented in court alongside the couple as the investigation continues.
Sumi and Tarkik were apprehended on September 12 after evading authorities for nearly 10 days. Prior to their arrest, Sumi Borah released a video denying the fraud allegations and accusing the media of harassment.
