Assam: Adolescent Severely Injured in Brutal Attack in Dhubri District
Guwahati, 22nd June: In a shocking incident in Kamalajhar, Golakganj, within the Dhubri district of Assam, an adolescent was savagely attacked by a group of thugs using daggers and other sharp weapons. The incident, which took place around 11 P.M. on June 21, stemmed from an altercation between two groups over a child’s argument.
Rehan Haque, a class 9 student, suffered a grievous injury, losing his hand while attempting to protect his older brother during the violent clash. The altercation escalated quickly, leading to severe casualties on both sides. The assailants, armed with daggers, axes, and other sharp implements, were identified as Moinul Haque, Tattoo, Tempo, Rashidul, Zahidul, Salwar, Samina, Amina, and Momena.
The attack, led by Moinul Haque, resulted in multiple severe injuries. In addition to Rehan Haque, Abdul Bari, Majnu Ali, and Ayub Ali sustained critical injuries and were initially treated at Dhubri Medical College Hospital before being transferred to Gauhati Medical College Hospital due to the severity of their conditions.
Following the attack, Golakganj police apprehended Moinul Haque, but the other suspects remain at large, having fled their residences. The local community holds a negative view of Moinul and his associates, accusing them of theft and other illicit activities. The incident has heightened concerns over safety and the need for swift justice in the region.
