Guwahati: One more accused of a rape case has been shot dead in an encounter by Assam Police in Darrang district on Wednesday.
The incident took place in the Lalpani locality of the district.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Munda.
According to reports, Munda was arrested on March 10, 2022 from Dhansiri Tea Estate for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl.
Munda was reportedly trying to leap out of the police car while he was being escorted to the crime scene for further investigation.
It needs to be mentioned that the police allegedly opened fire on him for attempting to flee from police custody and escaping arrest.
Earlier today, the prime accused of Garigaon Gang Rape Case was killed in an police encounter. The prime accused namely Biki Ali along with four others, Faizur Ali, Puna Ali, Pinku Ali, and Raja Ali, are accused of raping a 16-year-old minor girl and filming the whole thing.
The five boys blackmailed the girl by threatening to post her video on social media if she complained about them.
Meanwhile, a case was registered in All Women’s Police Station, Panbazar, under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012, Sections 376 (D) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67(B) of the IT Act.
