Assam Agricultural University Honours Namsai Farmer for Innovative Livestock Model

Assam: The Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, on January 6th, bestowed the prestigious ‘Innovate Farmer Award’ upon Monbhai Thamoung, a dedicated farmer from Namsai district in Arunachal Pradesh.

This recognition highlights Thamoung’s pioneering efforts in developing a successful multi-species livestock and poultry farming model. The award was presented to him during the Regional Agricultural Fair held in Jorhat from January 4th to 6th.

Expressing his admiration for Thamoung’s achievement, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended his congratulations via his official X handle. He emphasized the significance of Thamoung’s accomplishment, stating, “Kudos on winning the ‘Innovative Farmer Award’, a true inspiration for others to create opportunities instead of waiting for them. By leveraging KVK training and adopting a smart, sustainable livestock model, he turned local resources into a thriving business.”

Thamoung stands as the sole recipient of this esteemed award from Arunachal Pradesh, sharing the honor with four other distinguished farmers from across the Northeast region. His innovative farming approach integrates diverse livestock species and poultry, demonstrating a sustainable and profitable agricultural model.
