Assam: AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal Slams Budget Allocation and Flood Relief Efforts

Guwahati, 24th July: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal has voiced strong criticism against the recent budget, describing the allocation for minorities as insufficient. Ajmal highlighted that minorities receive only Rs 200-500 crores annually, a figure he deems inadequate. He questioned the budget’s commitment to minority welfare, stating, “Minorities do not only mean just Muslims… What do they get? Rs 200-500 crores annually? Modi’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative is undermined by cuts in higher education funding.”

Ajmal dismissed the budget as a mere “lollipop,” arguing that it fails to address the pressing needs of the nation’s minorities. He also criticized the provision of 5 kg of free ration, suggesting it could lead to complacency.

In addition to his budget critique, Ajmal recently condemned the Assam government’s handling of the flood situation in Dhubri. He accused the government of neglecting flood-affected areas, claiming that 90 percent of these regions have not received relief materials. The ongoing flood crisis has caused over 90 deaths and affected more than 5 lakh people across 18 districts, with Cachar district facing the worst impacts, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
