Assam: AIUDF Leader Rafiqul Islam Criticizes BJP Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections

Guwahati, 25th February: Assam MLA and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) leader Rafiqul Islam launched a scathing attack on the BJP government, expressing grave concerns about the future of India under its leadership. His remarks come as the country gears up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with AIUDF aiming to play a pivotal role in Assam and potentially forming alliances with other parties.

Islam accused the BJP of failing to fulfill its promises, particularly highlighting the significant gap between Prime Minister Modi’s earlier commitment to creating 2 crore jobs and the stark reality of struggling job creation. He voiced apprehensions regarding the state of democracy and the economy under BJP rule, asserting that both are currently “not safe.”

While acknowledging the weakened state of the Congress, Islam urged the party to adopt a pragmatic approach by “compromising, conceding, and supporting regional parties” to counter the BJP’s influence. He announced AIUDF’s ambition to secure three Lok Sabha seats in Assam and expressed openness to supporting alternative parties with sufficient strength to challenge the BJP on the remaining 11 seats.

Islam also criticized the Assam Congress for its lack of policy direction and internal issues, citing instances of MLAs defecting to the BJP. He urged the party to shed its “arrogance” and focus on improving its performance. Additionally, he emphasized that AIUDF supporters remain steadfast in their refusal to vote for the BJP.

In his address to reporters, Rafiqul Islam reiterated his concerns about the BJP’s governance and underscored the importance of viable alternatives in safeguarding the future of India.
