Assam: Amit Shah Inaugurates Convention Centre, Conference Of SPs in Dergaon
Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah solemnly inaugurated the conference of superintendents of police (SPs) in Dergaon of Assam on Sunday.
The conference will be held over two days in Dergaon of Assam’s Golaghat district at the Police Training College’s recently constructed convention centre.
The convention centre there was also inaugurated by the Union minister. He was accompanied by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who took to twitter to express his delight at the opportunity to accompany Shah to the event.
He claimed that the conference centre has numerous cutting-edge amenities and will undoubtedly benefit both the Assam Police and the state.
Assam cabinet minister Atul Bora, chief secretary to the state government Paban Kumar Borthakur, and the director general of police (DGP) in Assam Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta were among the dignitories.
Along with them, a number of senior Assam Police officers and other well-known individuals attended the occasion.
The two-day meeting has been subject to strict security measures.
It should be mentioned that on Saturday, Amit Shah virtually watched the destruction of approximately 40,000 kg of drugs that had been seized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and organisations from the Northeastern states.
A total of 11,000 kg of drugs were burned in Guwahati along with another 8,000 kg of drugs that the Assam government agencies confiscated.
Amit Shah and BJP National Chairman Jagat Prakash Nadda arrived in Guwahati on Friday.
