Assam and Mizoram Officials Hold Crucial Talks to Resolve Border Dispute

Northeast Desk, 10th August: In a significant development aimed at addressing the longstanding border dispute between Assam and Mizoram, Atul Bora, Assam’s Minister for Border Protection & Development, met with Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma at his residence on Saturday.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma voiced concerns about the persistent border issues affecting both states, acknowledging that previous dialogues maintaining the status quo have impeded progress. “The adherence to the status quo has hindered our goal of finding a permanent resolution,” Lalduhoma remarked, stressing his administration’s commitment to resolving the dispute within their term.

Minister Bora expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage in discussions and reiterated Assam’s dedication to finding a peaceful and lasting solution. He emphasized the importance of ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the two states to achieve a durable resolution to the border conflict.

The meeting underscores both states’ commitment to resolving their differences through constructive dialogue and continued collaboration.
