Assam: Angkita Dutta Suspended From Congress
Guwahati: In a significant development, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Friday suspended Angkita Dutta the state unit’s president of the Congress Youth from the party’s core membership.
The APCC issued a suspension order for her because Angkita failed to respond to the show cause notice that was sent to her within 24 hours.
According to reports, Dutta allegedly broke the party’s norms and regulations.
After being suspended, Dutta went to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) office regarding a complaint she had made against the leader of the Indian Youth Congress, Srinivas BV at the Dispur Police Station in which she accused him of harassing her for the previous six months.
APCC President Bhupen Borah had sent Angkita Dutta a show-cause notice on Thursday.
Hours after she reported Indian Youth Congress president Srinivas BV to the Dispur Police Station for harassment, she received the show cause notice.
Within 24 hours, APCC had requested a response in support of her claims.
Even though Bhupen Borah promised to look into the situation Angkita nevertheless made the decision to go to the police station to lodge a complaint.
“Angkita’s decision to file a complaint at the police station showed her lack of confidence in the party and the president,” Borah said.
