Assam: APDCL Employee Attacked While Collecting Dues in Karimganj

Guwahati, 28th December: In a shocking incident, an employee of the state power department, Afzal, was brutally attacked when he visited Raju Ahmed’s residence in Karimganj to collect long-pending electricity dues. Afzal, working as a lineman, attempted to disconnect the power supply due to non-payment.

The situation escalated when Ahmed, the resident, attacked Afzal with a sharp object during the attempt to cut off the power. The assault left the APDCL employee injured.

Locals intervened upon hearing the commotion, attempting to halt the altercation. Subsequently, Afzal was promptly taken to the hospital for necessary medical attention.

Law enforcement swiftly took action, placing Raju Ahmed under custody for questioning regarding the shocking assault on the power department employee. The incident underscores the challenges faced by utility workers in the course of duty, emphasizing the need for ensuring their safety while performing essential services.
