Lanka (Hojai): At least 250 shops gutted in a massive fire broke out in Lanka in the early hours on Saturday in Assam’s Hojai district.
The incident took place in the daily market in Lanka.
The devastating fire broke out in the early hours of the morning at Pyali Market in Lanka in Hojai district. Around 200 to 250 shops were completely engulfed in the fire.
The fire brigade was informed in the night soon after the fire broke out. Ten fire tenders from Lanka, Lumding, Shankardev Nagar, Hojai reached the spot and tried to douse the flames.
In the fire property worth around Rs 5 crores gutted. However, the reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Hojai police have been informed about the incident. Police reached the spot and started investigating the incident.
