Assam Assembly Budget Session to Begin February 17, Historic Inauguration in Kokrajhar
Guwahati: The Assam Assembly’s budget session is set to commence on February 17 and continue until March 25, marking a historic milestone with its inaugural day scheduled to take place in Kokrajhar.
This will be the first time an assembly session is held in the Bodoland Territorial Region. Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya will deliver the opening address to mark the session’s commencement.
After the inaugural session, there will be a one-day break, with the remaining proceedings to resume at the Assam Assembly complex in Dispur from February 19.
Finance Minister Ajanta Neog is slated to present the state budget for the 2025-26 financial year on March 10.
The session is expected to feature the tabling of several bills, reports, and resolutions, as part of its agenda. This move underscores the government’s commitment to inclusivity by recognizing Kokrajhar as a significant political and administrative hub in Assam.
