Assam athletes bring India top honour at Int’l Taekwondo Championship

Assam: India has once again showcased its prowess in Taekwondo, winning three gold medals at the International Taekwondo Championship in Bhutan.

The competition saw stellar performances, particularly from four athletes hailing from Assam’s Kaliabor, who together bagged a total of four gold medals.

Ankita Bora, Lohar Jyoti Bora, Krishanku Bora, and Panchhi Hazarika, all from Kaliabor, dominated their respective categories, securing top honors and making their region and nation proud.

Their outstanding achievements contributed significantly to India’s overall success at the event.

In addition to the athletes’ triumphs, Parash Jyoti Das, an International Taekwondo player and coach, was recognized with the prestigious ‘Best Instructor Award 2025.’ This award highlighted his exceptional coaching skills and dedication to the sport.

India’s victory was especially impressive as the team triumphed over strong competitors from Pakistan and Sri Lanka, reinforcing the country’s growing dominance in the global Taekwondo arena.
