Assam: Bajali Police Nab Three Suspects in ATM Fraud Case

Guwahati, 18th March: In a significant development, the Bajali Police have apprehended three individuals implicated in an ATM fraud scheme. The suspects, identified as Ashif Iqbal Hossain, Sahil Ahmed, and Nuruddin Khan, all residents of Barpeta district, were taken into custody following a complaint filed by Lakheswar Talukdar of Puthimari village.

Talukdar reported the unauthorized withdrawal of Rs 51,000 from his bank account via his ATM card, prompting an intensive investigation led by Bajali Additional SP (HQ) Trinayan Bhuyan. The operation, which combined technical expertise and human intelligence, resulted in the recovery of eight ATM cards, including the victim’s, from the possession of the accused.

During a search at the residence of Sahil Ahmed, one of the suspects, the police seized Rs 40,000 in cash suspected to be part of the stolen amount. Additionally, authorities confiscated a two-wheeler, three Android mobile phones, and SIM cards believed to have been used in the fraudulent activities.

The ongoing investigation involves further interrogation of the accused to unravel the full extent of their involvement in the ATM fraud. The successful apprehension highlights the Bajali Police’s dedication to combat financial crimes and uphold the safety of citizens within the region.
