Assam: Bajrang Dal Protests Prompt Removal of Bangladeshi Stalls at Global Expo in Cachar

Assam: Two stalls selling Bangladeshi goods were removed from the ongoing global expo in Cachar’s Town Club Field following protests by Bajrang Dal members.

The group demanded the removal of all products and advertisements related to Bangladesh, citing alleged atrocities against Hindus and other minorities in the neighboring country.

Bajrang Dal spokesperson Mintu Nath stated, “No Bangladeshi product will be allowed to be sold in any shop in the entire Cachar district as long as atrocities against Hindus continue in Bangladesh.” The protesters also visited the Bangladesh visa center at Goldighi Mall, insisting on the removal of the word “Bangladesh” from its signage.

Organizers complied with the demands, removing the stalls and associated promotional materials. In response to the protests, additional police forces were deployed at both the expo venue and the visa center to ensure law and order.

A senior police officer confirmed that the situation was under control, stating, “A strict vigil is being maintained across the district to prevent any untoward incidents.”

The incident has sparked discussions within the community about the intersection of trade, diplomacy, and activism, with some expressing concern over the implications of such protests on local events.
