Assam: Bangladeshi Nationals Busted with Forged Aadhaar Cards in Bongaigaon Railway Station

Bongaigaon: In a swift and coordinated action, security forces in Bongaigaon have apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals attempting to travel to Mumbai using fake Indian documents.

The arrests, made during a joint operation by the New Bongaigaon Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF), highlight the ongoing challenges of illegal infiltration across the porous India-Bangladesh border.

The drama unfolded at New Bongaigaon Junction when GRP personnel intercepted Mohammad Golam Rabbani. His brother, Asarul Islam, was subsequently nabbed by RPF within the railway premises, leading to the unraveling of their illicit travel plans. Both individuals, confirmed to be residents of Bangladesh’s Rajshahi district, had allegedly entered Assam by illegally crossing the border via Meghalaya, a route frequently exploited by infiltrators.

Authorities revealed the duo’s intention was to reach Mumbai in search of employment as labourers, planning to board the Tambaram Express. However, their ambitions were cut short by the vigilance of railway security. Upon interrogation, officials recovered fabricated Indian Aadhaar cards from their possession, which, disturbingly, were found to have been manufactured in West Bengal.

Preliminary investigations suggest a well-oiled cross-border network might be at play, facilitating not only illegal entry but also the procurement of forged documents and onward movement across various Indian states. The two arrested individuals are now in custody, facing further interrogation. The matter is being closely monitored, with intelligence and immigration authorities coordinating to delve deeper into the ramifications of this incident and to dismantle any wider networks involved.
