Guwahati, 6th June: Barbie Hazarika, the Assistant Commissioner of Kamrup (M) and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of the Secondary Education Department, has been reinstated following a suspension due to allegations of rude behavior towards foreign delegates during her tenure with the Act East Policy Affairs Department.
Hazarika’s reinstatement follows a departmental proceeding under Rule 9 of the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964. The proceedings were initiated after a report from the then Secretary to the Government of Assam, Act East Policy Affairs Department, concerning her conduct at the ‘Act East through North East’ and ‘NADI 3.0 2022’ conclaves.
Hazarika was initially suspended via a notification and faced a Departmental Proceeding with a Show Cause Notice on June 10. Following the completion of the disciplinary process, the Governor of Assam approved her return to service.
Hazarika has now been assigned the role of Assistant Commissioner in Karimganj, resuming her duties as a government official in her new position.
