Assam: Barpeta Election District Voter List Includes 19 Third Gender Individuals
Guwahati, 18th March: With the Lok Sabha elections 2024 looming, Barpeta Election District in Assam is gearing up for a significant electoral event. The Election Commission of India has announced a schedule spanning seven phases from April 19 to June 1, prompting preparations for a smooth and inclusive voting process.
Barpeta Election District encompasses four Assembly Segments, falling under two Parliamentary Constituencies – Dhubri and Barpeta. Scheduled for phase 3 on May 7, 2024, this district boasts a total of 9,40,001 eligible voters, including 19 third-gender individuals, emphasizing inclusivity.
Efforts are underway to ensure the integrity and accessibility of the voting process, with 1034 polling stations earmarked, including 258 critical stations. Measures such as Model Polling Stations, all-women polling stations, and special stations for Persons with Disabilities are being implemented to enhance inclusivity.
The district administration has established a 24×7 Control Room and provided helpline numbers for immediate assistance, emphasizing voter convenience and addressing queries or malpractices related to the election.
Ayush Garg, the Barpeta District Election Officer, urges residents to actively participate in ensuring the smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha Election, highlighting the significance of nearly two million voters across Barpeta HPC.
With nearly 20 lakh voters poised to exercise their democratic right, the district is gearing up for a pivotal electoral showdown, with crucial dates for the nomination process disclosed in a recent press meet.
As the nation braces for one of its most crucial democratic exercises, Barpeta Election District stands ready to uphold democratic ideals of fairness, transparency, and representation, ensuring a robust electoral process for all citizens.
