Assam: Barpeta Gears Up for Advantage Assam 2.0 with District-Wide Preparation Meeting

Guwahati: Barpeta district officials convened a crucial meeting on February 21st at the District Commissioner’s Conference Hall to solidify preparations for the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Investors Summit.

Kaustav Kalita, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Barpeta, led the session, outlining the strategic objectives and far-reaching implications of the Advantage Assam 2.0 initiative.

The ADC stressed the significant advantages of securing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with prospective investors, local entrepreneurs, and industries within the district, aiming to stimulate economic growth and development.

The gathering saw participation from a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including heads of key line departments such as Agriculture, Sericulture, Fishery, Veterinary, Handloom and Textile, Cooperative Societies, and the Lead District Manager (LDM). Representatives from the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) and the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM), along with several entrepreneurs, three medical professionals, and owners of food processing units, also attended the meeting.

A significant portion of the discussion centered on the procedures for land reclassification to accommodate proposed industrial units within the district, as well as the tangible benefits of formalizing partnerships through MoUs.

ADC Kalita placed particular emphasis on the necessity of verifying the authenticity of entrepreneurs participating in the MoU signing process, ensuring that only genuine business ventures are supported.

Furthermore, line departments were directed to ensure their presence during the MoU signing ceremony and the live streaming of the event, scheduled for February 25, 2025, at the office of the General Manager, District Industries and Commerce Centre, Barpeta, underscoring the district’s commitment to the summit’s success.
