Assam: Barpeta Man Abducted on Way to IPL Match in Guwahati, Rescued by Police in Meghalaya

Guwahati: A man traveling to watch an IPL match in Guwahati was abducted on March 26 but was later rescued by the police in a swift operation. Fakhruddin Bhuyan, a resident of Barpeta, was kidnapped by five men from the Bhagadattapur area while he was on his way to the Barsapara Stadium.

Acting on intelligence, Darrang police traced Bhuyan’s location to Umiam in Meghalaya, where he was successfully rescued. The police also apprehended the five accused, all hailing from Nagaon district in Assam. The suspects have been identified as Abul Hussain, Abul Nachar, Sahir Ahmed, Abu Kashem, and Abdul Hanan.

Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the abduction, while legal proceedings against the accused are underway.
