Assam: Beheading Rocks Cachar Village Amidst Domestic Row

Guwahati: In a truly horrific incident that has sent shivers down the spine of Cachar district, a man brutally murdered his wife by beheading her during a domestic dispute in the waterlogged village of Ramprasadpur.

The victim has been identified as Meena Kol, whose life was tragically cut short by her husband, Ratan Kol, who has since been apprehended by the police.

Preliminary reports suggest that the couple, like many others, found themselves embroiled in a heated argument over what was described as a minor issue. However, this seemingly insignificant disagreement spiralled out of control with terrifying speed. In a fit of uncontrolled rage, Ratan Kol reportedly armed himself with a machete, locally known as a dao, and repeatedly struck his wife. The attack culminated in the gruesome act of severing her head, resulting in her instantaneous death.

Following the ghastly deed, Ratan Kol was discovered standing beside the blood-soaked remains of his wife, still clutching the murder weapon. Terrified and deeply shocked neighbours, who were too stunned to intervene directly, immediately raised the alarm and contacted the authorities. Police swiftly arrived at the scene, taking the accused into custody and dispatching Meena Kol’s body to Silchar Medical College for a thorough post-mortem examination.

The sheer brutality of this crime has left the local community reeling in disbelief and sorrow. A magistrate, alongside distressed relatives of the victim, also visited the site, underscoring the gravity of the situation. Law enforcement has confirmed that a comprehensive investigation into this chilling murder is now officially underway.
